01: Welcome: Dr. Nicolas Pereyra
Assistant Professor in Astronomy/Astrophysics at the Department of Physics and Geology at UTPA .
I'm an Astrophysicist and a Computational Physicist with more than twenty years of experience in these fields. Throughout this time I have developed and implemented time-dependent hydrodynamic numerical codes and plasma simulation codes. I have worked on the numerical simulation of accretion disk winds in cataclysmic variables and QSOs. Recently I have been strongly involved in the development of Astronomical Curriculum and Astronomical Outreach at UTPA helping minorities (like me) to enter and discover the wonderful world of Sciences and Astronomy in particular.
At this time, my research interest include: Outlflows from Accretion Disks Systems, such as cataclysmic variables (white dwarf ), X-ray binaries (neutron stars and stellar black holes), and QSOs (suppermassive black holes). Modeling of Internal Structure of QSOs. Gravitional Theories Independent of the Space-Time Bending as propposed in the General Theory of Relativity. Numerical Modeling of Astrophysical Flows.
